DD1101 - shading and highlights (alternate sketches)

First of all, the flats for the finished image! I just really like how they turned out! For the sake of it, here's the loose sketch it was based on:

And here are some sketches for some alternate images I was going to go for for this assignment! They'really loose and messy!

My fiance's persona, Jason!

An iconic figurehead character of mine, Nayamou, prior to their redesign.

Another character from the same story as Daryl: Houston!

Jason, again, with my own persona Reese. Some overly-cute nonsense!

DD1101 - shading and highlights

Assignment from a few weeks ago! A fully-coloured, and fully-shaded, piece. I chose my character Daryl, a one-eyes, genderqueer detective. People often refer to her as male, and she often prefers it that way! FULL SIZE IS HERE!

DD1101 - black and white character sketch

ORIGINAL POST DATE: OCTOBER 16TH 2012

For Creative Thinking, here's a sketch of a character. Specifically, a personal character of mine, my persona Eeseray.
I drew him in Jake Muller's Langshiang outfit from Resident Evil 6, entirely due to the factt that Eeseray doesn't have an official outfit yet, and I've been playing a hell of a lot of this game. I think those clothes suit him a reasonable amount.
I need to fix the arms and legs, so I'll do that whenever I get around to outlining it digitally.
Just a simple drawing.

DD1101 - colour practice 01

ORIGINAL POST DATE: OCTOBER 7TH 2012

Colouring a sketch! I'd never actually laid down colours like this before, by setting the layer blending option to Multiply, then slapping the colours down underneath. It was really fun to try, and I really like the sketchy quality of it a whole lot!

DD1101 - body practices

ORIGINAL POST DATE: OCTOBER 7TH 2012

The actual practice sketches weren't particularly noteworthy, but the final product is something I really enjoyed!

A week later, I drew a full-body shot of myself as Thomas. Part of the face looks... wonky, and the crotch may be slightly too high. But for someone who struggles with body proportions, I think it turned out fairly well! Not much else to talk about on this one, I think. Pose is fairly boring, and I wish I managed to figure out something more dynamic that I didn't become too frustrated with. Lessons learnt! Again, for obvious reasons, this will be redrawn, not just because I've improved since.

DD1101 - face practices

ORIGINAL POST DATE: OCTOBER 7TH, 2012

First batch of practices in facial proportions. I tried to spice up the varety in face types and sex, but unfortunately a lot of the characters I have are androdynous physically, so it was harder to really convey gender without any hints outside of the face, I think. But still, here are some fun doodles! Here is a sketch of me as deputy Thomas MacLaine from Deadly Premoniton. I said that it was my favourite game, and I decided to stick to my guns with drawing myself in that universe. Part of the point of the characters in the game is that, well, everyone appears so ordinary on the outside, but they hold dark secrets underneath that exterior. Thomas is one of them. I thought I might as well draw myself as my favourite character from the game--as well as my favourie character in any game I've ever played--whom I relate to greatly: a shy, loving, honest, gender-confused, and strong person. Or, at least, he's reatable by my interpretation, because I know others see him differently, in a more negative light. Maybe it's bias on my part that I see him as positive and brave, but I'm just rambling! Back on track, but for a few obvious reasons, I'll redraw this bust. It also may be obvious that I really love drawing faces! And I'm really looking forward to the Deadly Premonition Director's Cut! Gonna post the following week's work now!
